There's nothing more magical than capturing one’s very own images without the aid of a camera. In a world that is rapidly moving away from traditional photography techniques, this course will take a step back and look at the world through a pinhole. Our environment is full of digitally manipulated imagery and yet the most amazing moods within an image can be achieved by simple techniques and experimentation with analogue photography.

This course is designed to cater for all levels, whether you want to discover the medium, enrich digital skills, learn about different ways of image making or are a photography enthusiast. This course will give the opportunity to (re-) discover photography, focusing on portraiture, still life settings and architecture.

Students will experience a hands-on approach, building their own pinhole cameras from a cardboard box and objects of their choice, as well as developing their own black and white prints in the darkroom.

This course will provide you with the knowledge of the following:

How to build your own pinhole camera from a cardboard box

How to build your own pinhole camera from a suitable object of

your choice

Push the perception of what a camera should look like, including

scale and material.

How to develop your own black and white prints

How to make a contact print (positive image) from the initial

pinhole photograph

Participants will take home 15-20 prints

Suitable for all levels.
