Fabric Layers, Paint, Print and Stitch with Jo Dixon
£90 (10 students maximum)
This course is an opportunity to explore and experiment with textile and mixed media processes on fabric and an introduction to painting techniques on cloth – mark-making, adding stencil, print designs, texture techniques, using dyes or acrylics, to colour and hand stitch techniques to draw and embellish the fabric.
The course is suitable for anyone with a little textile/ stitch experience who would like to explore the possibilities involved in creating fabric pieces from drawings, colour and texture observations using repurposed and collected materials.
You will create samplers to develop further or create a fabric book.
Materials:
Fabrics – old cotton sheeting, calico, tea towels, table cloths etc
Scraps of fabric , discarded fabrics and materials
Lace, threads, beads, buttons for embellishments (any you have)
Acrylics or fabric paint(not dye as too liquid)
Basic sewing materials- needles, threads , embroidery threads/ thicker needle
Scissors (fabric or other)
Paper / card to cut stencils
Stamps or stencils you have
Stencil brush or sponge
Biro pen and or sharpie / felt tip pens for detail drawing
oil pastels or fabric crayons
Collage materials- any interesting paper or materials to layer onto fabric
