Point, line and plane – an introduction with Nena Parkes

10am to 12pm

A brief 5-week introduction to the fundamental elements of art and design – point, line and plane.  This will be a practical approach to exploring the theory of art and you will produce works exploring how we create an illusion of three-dimensional space in two dimensions.  For inspiration we will look at the work of the Bauhaus School of Art, in particular Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee and discover how their theories can be found exemplified in classical and modern paintings.

Materials:

Strong white cartridge paper, black paper, ruler, compass, pencil, Sharpie black marker pen, Winsor and Newton Designer gouache paints -basic set, craft knife and scissors.
