Sunningwell School of Art works with primary and secondary schools by offering art classes and workshops tailored to the needs of individual settings and pupils.
Our current project is ‘Exploring Materials’ with pupils from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Headington, Oxford in small group sessions to build confidence, enjoyment and communication skills. In their first session with Sunningwell School of Art tutor, Emma Williams, they explored and discussed the following:
- What is 2-D & 3-D?
- What are sculptures traditionally made from?
- What is ‘foil’ made from 😁
KS1 and KS2 pupils then made the human forms from aluminium foil, looked at pictures of acrobats and gymnasts to inspire the posing of our sculptures and also used the sculptures to make shadow images to trace around.
