Laura Degenhardt
Laura specialises in working with oils alla prima. She has a studio in Jericho, Oxford, and often works en plein air on Port Meadow and in the Oxford cityscape. She holds a BA Fine Art from Oxford Brookes University, and a Master’s in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She is also a qualified teacher, and has taught widely in the last 10 years. Laura was subject tutor for Fine Art on the Foundation Art and Design course at Abingdon and Witney College, and has taught on the Foundation, BA and Master’s in Fine Art courses at Oxford Brookes University. Most recently, she has devoted more time to her own practice whilst working as a Life Drawing tutor at the Ruskin School of Art. Her work is held in public and private collections.
Laura focuses on teaching painting and drawing processes that allow space for experimentation, accidents and the unexpected events that serve to shape a unique work. She encourages her students to learn from careful observation as they develop a confident, intuitive visual language of their own when drawing and painting from life.
