Portrait with Flowers using Mixed Media Collage and Monoprinting.

A two-day portrait workshop with a difference. Using printed collage papers and a variety of mixed media, students will work from a model and still-life to produce expressive, individual works.

Suitable for all levels

Using a portrait model in an attractive setting with flowers and still-life objects, we will set about portraying it using a variety of methods (see course title) resulting in an array of fresh approaches to figuration. Inspiration will be provided in the form of a variety of portraits / still-life treatments and class discussion. We will look at artists’ work such as Tracey Emin, Juan Gris, Picasso and Modigliani to name just a few.

Materials

  • Please bring your own water-based mediums, anything from acrylics, gouache and watercolours to pencils, crayons and pastels etc. The school also has a stock of paints that can be used.
  • Some collage papers / glue will be provided but please bring along anything in the way of papers or surfaces that youlike to work with.

Things to Bring

Complimentary refreshments are available at breaktimes. Bring a packed lunch and drink with you. Parking is on site, in the overflow car park, on the street and at the Village Hall.
