Moroccan Mezze - a decorative still life

Suitable for all levels including beginners.

With Matisse's Moroccan period still life works in mind, two big assemblages will be set up with boldly patterned textiles, striking decorative objects, little oriental tables, big lilies etc. etc. - each rich in colour with potential for strong compositions.

Speedy strategies would be offered:
* To release the exciting shapes and rhythms and create a lively and impactful piece of work.
* To find the best possible composition.
* To simplify and work on a larger scale using bigger brushes than usual.
* To exploit the possibilities for arresting colour to the full.

Works by Matisse, Anne Redpath, Matthew Smith, Scottish Colourists, Alberto Morrocco will be discussed.

The very forgiving subject matter makes it suitable for all abilities.

Materials:
* Oil, acrylic, gouache, oil pastel or mixed media.
* A canvas, board or suitable high quality paper support between A2 and A1 in size.
* A range of brushes including some large ones.
* Sketch book and soft pencils.
