Suitable only for beginners and those who are very rusty!

In this introduction to oil painting, Laura will take you through the basics of how to handle oil paint, the materials that you need for working in this rich medium, and the practicalities of managing your studio as an oil painter. Laura will cover colour mixing and show you how to begin an oil painting using a limited colour palette.  You will start to get used to working in oils by painting a still life of fruit. As the weekend progresses, Laura will lead you through more adventurous colour mixing as you work from photographs to paint a landscape. You don't need any painting experience to come on this course, just your curiosity, enthusiasm, and a good apron! All your materials are supplied.

The course is also suitable for those who have used oil paints before and would like a refresher about the materials and process of oil painting in a supportive studio environment.
