Suitable for all levels including beginners.

During this one-day workshop students will set up and work from their own still-life, built with a mixture of natural and artificial objects in a wide range of textures and colours. You will learn how to arrange your objects to present opportunities for a good composition, taking into consideration balance, proportion and the distribution of colour. Several techniques will be used to represent the different textures and patterns present in your still life.

Please bring with you:

A selection of chosen objects (with simple forms) some plain and some patterned such as vases, bowls, decorative ceramic pieces – not too large, try to keep things in relation to each other.

A few pieces of fabric – this can be patterned, striped, checked etc. and some plain.

A selection of natural objects, leaves, berries, flowers, sticks or stalks. The school will have plenty of spare objects, fabrics etc. for you to use.

A set of watercolour paints and brushes.

Watercolour paper can be bought from the school on the day.

Please bring a packed lunch with you.

Parking is available in the school car park, on the street or at the village hall nearby.
