Through guided experimentation, students will learn to cultivate looser mark making techniques and a deeper understanding of the potential of a range of materials.

Drawing from the techniques used and experience gained during the first day and a half students will create a more sustained painting on canvas to be completed on the second day. Suitable for anyone willing to experiment.

What to bring:

A small sketchbook in case we go outside to draw (Seawhite do lovely concertina sketchbooks 9.5 x 17.5cm

A soft pencil (Blackwing Matte are really lovely to draw with and include a replaceable rubber on the other end!)

Masking tape

Acrylic paints and (if available but not necessary) watercolour paints.

Charcoal in a variety of thicknesses.

A variety of sizes and shapes of synthetic bristle brushes and some softer brushes.

Cartridge paper. (Can be purchased from the school.)

Sugar paper. (Can be purchased from the school.) Watercolour paper (if you have it but not essential, can be purchased from the school.)

A stretched canvas at least A2 size.

 

Refreshments are provided at break times and throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch with you. Parking is available in the school car park, on the street or at the village hall nearby.
