Working directly from live models, this course begins with a focus on understanding cranial structure and facial anatomy, breaking down the head into clear planes, shapes, values and edges. We will move on to study individual facial features in detail and later learn how to integrate them seamlessly into the process of painting.  This will enable us to create a complete portrait from start to finish with emphasis on the analytical gaze.
