Schedule:
Thursday 3rd December from 10am to 4pm (making)
Friday 4th December from 1pm to 4pm (making)
Friday 11th December from 10am to 12pm (glazing)
This two-and-a-half-day course is suitable for beginners who can learn a new skill, and students with more experience who will be able to broaden their existing skills and realise more complexity in their designs.
By the end of the course, you will have gained an understanding of the history and importance of sprig decoration, how to select a good design, model and make your own reusable plaster mould.
You will learn how to work with ‘clay memory’ to create up to three slab-built forms and use the traditional skills of the sprigging technique to apply this bas-relief patterned surface to your pottery. You will also discover how different glazes can enhance your design further.
All levels welcome, including beginners.
Price includes firing and glazing. Clay charged separately.
