Alison Williams

Alison has a wide range of experience and skills in two- and three-dimensional creative work. With a BA (Hons.) Degree in 3D Design from Cardiff and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Manchester University, she came to Oxfordshire to work at the renowned Rycotewood College in Thame, managing (and teaching part-time) for Oxfordshire Adult Learning. Alison was a founder member of the Artists Union in Manchester.

Alison’s own work has always been the result of utilising her creative skills to make works that stand as comments on societal analysis and cultural criticism – the work of caricaturists Cruikshank & Rowlandson and more latterly Fluck & Law being influential points of reference.

Exhibitions of her political caricatures have been held in the Whitechapel Gallery and other London and UK galleries. She has produced two and three-dimensional commissions for publishers, the music industry, business and television.  Bringing over 40 years’ experience teaching adults in further & higher education and through community commissions, Alison enjoys the challenge of utilising a variety of media to facilitate development of confidence, skills and knowledge in others.

Her approach to working and teaching can be summarised as challenging rules and exploring possibilities; combing many media and materials, using texture, colour and scale for creative individual expression.
