Alan Franklin

Alan studied sculpture at St. Martins School of Art, West Surrey College of Art and Design (BA hons 1st class) and MA Fine Art at Goldsmiths College. He has been making and exhibiting his work in the UK and abroad ever since.  From 1985 he has been involved in Fine Art education teaching at various schools and colleges throughout Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and was head of Fine Art at Buckinghamshire New University between 2004 and 2007.

Alan is also the Chair of Trustees at Sunningwell School of Art.

‘I like the idea that teaching is about facilitating. There are skills to be learnt, but they are only the tools needed to express ideas, thoughts and feelings about the world. The teacher can share their knowledge but most importantly they should inspire the confidence and curiosity to say ‘What If..’
